Next Step Key Fob

Oh, hey everyone!

Have you fallen head over heels for a certain brand of yarn? Something that has the perfect squish, softness, amazing drape and a gorgeous array of colours? I have.

If you have been following me on any of my social media platforms, you would see that I have been working with Avery Lane Creations – Crochet Everything hand dyed yarn and let me say, it does not disappoint!

crochet hand dyed yarn

Made by Nicky, ALCyarns

It has been such an honour to be able to create a design for her ALC Yarn subscription box for the past two months and it has been so much fun working with her and her hand dyed yarn.

Each time I work with it, I get distracted with each stitch because each stitch tends to be a different colour and the stitch definition is superb!

Nicky has been playing with different wools and wool blends, donegal tweed and 50/50 cotton/wool blend being a couple of my favourites. The donegal tweed is a DK weight yarn with brown/tan specks throughout the yarn, it’s so soft and it’s a tweed lovers dream.

The 50/50 cotton/wool blend has easily become one of my all time favourite yarns to work with.

It’s a DK weight yarn and it is really the best of both worlds. You get the sturdiness of cotton and the softness of wool wrapped up in one beautiful marbled hank of yarn.

The dyes react differently to the cotton vs the wool but it just adds to the beauty and depth of this yarn.

Have you had the pleasure of working with ALC yarn?

Do you have a favourite brand of yarn you think I should try out and review? Leave your suggestions in the comments

I have made a few things with the 50/50 cotton/wool blend. The Rochon Headband collection was my first make and you can find that pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.

After making the Rochon Headband Collection, I had enough yarn to whip up another fun free pattern for you all.

The Next Step Key Fob is a super easy, quick pattern to work up and they make fabulous market items.
